MEETING MINUTES
November 2007
President David Walker called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm and welcomed members and visitors. David took a few minutes to explain to members how the club is governed. The Board of Directors meets monthly to discuss and implement routine matters of concern to the club. Any proposal or problem that is other than routine is considered by the Board, and a recommendation is made to the membership as a whole; the membership is not, by any means, obligated to follow Board recommendations. Nor, for that matter, is the Board bound to follow any suggestions made by the President. The President has one vote and one vote only. In short, Radio AeroModelers of Montgomery is a democratically run organization.
Next, David Walker read the minutes of the October meeting and they were accepted without revision.
Jim Windham, Treasurer, presented the financial report. At present, our club has a balance of $2976.31 in the bank( after expenses which include $1750.00 for next year’s rent).
Vice President Jamie Strong reminded us of the upcoming Hamfest/RC Exhibit. Jamie encouraged RAMM members to bring any airplanes they wish to exhibit or sell, and he assured us that planes brought to the coliseum on Friday would be safe as he will be spending the night there.
Jim Beam, Webmaster, reports that all is well with our Web Site. Jim noted that since very few people use the personalized pages on our site, those pages have been discontinued.
David Walker reminded members that plans for the park at Snowdoun are moving forward as expected. David encouraged RAMM members to donate funds to the project when they pay their 2008 dues. Bryant Hudson emphasized just how much this park means to Winston Pirtle; it was a dream that Winston’s father had, and Winston is working to see that the dream is realized.
David also reminded everyone of the Christmas party to be held on December 1. Board members will be calling each RAMM member asking that they attend, bring an assigned dish, and bring an unwrapped toy for disadvantaged children.
David said that he would like to see the present club officers retained for next year. Because Ed Sims will not be able to stay on as Secretary, Steve Linto agreed to serve in that capacity. There being no objections, the Board of Directors for 2008 is in place.
Steve Linto announced that there is an organization known as the Fellowship of Christian Modelers, and encouraged those who are interested in joining to do so. Steve pointed out that this organization is separate from and not a part of RAMM.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm.
