MEETING MINUTES
January 2007
The January meeting was called to order by our newly elected president David
Walker. David introduced our visitors for the evening Jean Cannady and Paul
St. John.
Dave Carlton (treasurer) reported that we have $3954.29 in the bank plus moneys from those who have paid tonight. A total of 51 members have paid and there are 96 members listed on the roster. Everyone needs to pay their dues for 2007.
David Connelly (safety officer) asks that we not fly over the house located outwards from the Southeastern end of our field and that we be extremely careful when starting our engines.
Our new newsletter editor, Jim Beam, is doing an outstanding job with the newsletter. Also, as our club webmaster he reports that we are averaging 26,500 - 35,000 hits per month. We thank Jim for his efforts in both these responsibilities.
Jim Windham will have 2 tables at the Perry, Georgia swap meet. If you need to sell something his tables are available for your use. Keep in mind that the swap meet will begin on Friday, 3/2/07, at 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday,3/3/07, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Jim Beam mentioned that a couple of our work tables are showing their age. Jim said that he would help repair/replace. David will contact Pat Williams and report back to the membership. Pat built these tables several years ago and donated them to the club. For this we are always grateful.
David reported that the tin on the roof our pavilion needs to be repaired. Should we use a tar-like material? Should we use Cool Seal? Tar is cheaper than Cool Seal. Perhaps we need to remove the old tar and replace with new. Will discuss this topic at the next board meeting. Also, we may want to leave the repaired tables unpainted.
Gene Hannah noted that he will sell his Funtana for $150.00 without the servos. This does include a .90 Super Tiger engine.
David Walker said that it an honor to be president of the club and a member.
The program was turned over to Jamie Strong who gave the first, of a series of three, programs on electric airplanes and everything associated with them. The program was outstanding.
